-Get The Right Kind Of Oil Change – When you’re getting an oil change in preparation for cold weather, be sure to get the right kind of oil. Engine oil thickens in the winter, so you want to make sure you have the correct viscosity to properly lubricate your engine.
-Make Sure Your Wipers Are Working – Windshield wipers typically last about one year before they need to be replaced. If you’ve noticed your windshield is a little streakier than normal, replace your wipers so that you will have enough visibility in the rain and snow
-Test Your Battery – Cold weather has a way of bringing out the worst in an aging battery. If your car’s battery is over three years old, have it tested for its ability to hold a charge the next time you’re in for your regular maintenance. If your car’s battery is more than 4-5 years old, you are running on borrowed time and should probably replace the battery before you find yourself stranded one cold winter morning!
-Top Off Your Fluids – Especially in the snow, it’s important to make sure your windshield-washer reservoir is filled with an anti-freeze solution to keep you safe and give you maximum visibility during icy drives.
-Check Out Your Tires – Having bald tires is never a good thing, but when there’s ice on the ground, it could be deadly. Don’t wait until you are losing traction on a busy road to find out it’s time to replace your tires!
